After scoring a hattrick against Racing Santander, Raphinha overtakes Mbappe from the top position of LaLiga's top scorers ranking.

Raphinha was not just the stand-out star of Barcelona's dominant victory over Racing Santander. The Brazilian's hat-trick sent him to the top of the LaLiga goalscoring charts while maintaining Blaugrana's flawless start to the current campaign.

Barcelona demolished Racing Santander 7-2 at Camp Nou on Thursday, in a fixture that laid bare the lethal finishing of the home side's forward line.

Raphinha's three goals formed the backbone of Barcelona's goalscoring rout, followed by strikes from Joao Cancelo, an own goal from Asier Villalibre, plus further goals from Lamine Yamal and Gabriel Jesus.

Barcelona have secured maximum points from their opening six LaLiga fixtures. Sitting on 18 points, Blaugrana hold a comfortable position at the summit of the interim league standings.

Yet the biggest focus of the night fell squarely on Raphinha. The club captain finished the fixture with three goals, two of which came from the penalty spot.

Barcelona broke the deadlock in the 8th minute. Collecting a diagonal pass from Lamine Yamal, Cancelo cut inside before firing a curling effort. The ball bounced off the crossbar before crossing the line past Racing goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala.

Raphinha took control of the game in the 25th minute, after Pedro Felipe was brought down inside the penalty area. Taking the spot kick himself, Raphinha placed the ball into the bottom right corner to extend Barcelona's lead to 2-0.

Racing Santander pulled one back five minutes later. Maguette Gueye pounced on a defensive lapse from Barcelona before lifting a delicate chip over Joan Garcia, making the score 2-1.

Barcelona quickly restored their two goal cushion. Cancelo struck a long range effort that deflected off Villalibre, changing trajectory before nestling into the top left corner of the Racing goal.

Raphinha registered his second goal of the night, latching onto a Dani Olmo through ball before firing a low finish past Agirrezabala from close range. Barcelona went into the half time break holding a 4-1 advantage.

Shortly before half time, Barcelona were awarded another penalty, but Raphinha passed up the opportunity to allow Lamine Yamal to take the kick. The young Barcelona talent's effort was pushed away by Agirrezabala.

A misplaced pass from Wojciech Szczesny while building out from the back was intercepted by Yassir Zabiri. The Racing forward dispossessed the Barcelona goalkeeper before slotting home to bring the scoreline to 4-2.

Two minutes later, Raphinha stepped up once again from 12 yards after Iker Luque fouled Adeyemi inside the box. His penalty found the net, completing the Brazilian's hat-trick.

In the 79th minute, Yamal picked out Gabriel Jesus with a measured pass. The Brazilian forward fired an unstoppable shot into the top right corner, taking Barcelona's lead to 6-2.

Yamal got his own goal in the 89th minute. After Adeyemi controlled a pulled back cross, he laid the ball off for Yamal who struck a first time finish to wrap up Barcelona's 7-2 victory.

Raphinha's hat-trick confirms his place at the top of the interim LaLiga goalscoring rankings. He now sits on 9 goals, two clear of both Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé and his own team mate Lamine Yamal, who are both tied on 7 goals.

The race for the LaLiga golden boot is already gathering intensity. With the vast majority of the season still to play, both Raphinha and Mbappé will have plenty of opportunities to add to their goal tallies.
