Indonesia National Team Will Be Without Jay Idzes at the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, Here Are the 23 Players Selected by John Herdman.

Indonesia National Team will compete in the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup without captain Jay Idzes. Head coach John Herdman has finalised the 23-player squad for the tournament held from 25 September to 5 October, with the Sassuolo defender ruled out due to injury.

Indonesia is drawn in Group A alongside Malaysia, Singapore and Bangladesh. The Garuda squad will contest this tournament with Herdman's selected lineup, consisting of three goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders and four forwards.

Between the posts, Herdman has retained three familiar faces for the national team. Emil Audero, Maarten Paes and Nadeo Argawinata are the selected options for the goalkeeper position.

The defensive line is the sector with the highest number of called up players. Elkan Baggott, Dion Markx, Rizky Ridho, Justin Hubner, Kevin Diks, Nathan Tjoe-A-On, Yakob Sayuri, Dony Tri Pamungkas and Dean James are all included in the 23-man roster.

However, one key name is missing from the defensive ranks. Jay Idzes is unavailable after sustaining an injury while featuring for Sassuolo in the Italian Serie A.

With their captain sidelined, Herdman will need to prepare alternative options at the heart of the defence. Sandy Walsh also did not make the final squad list for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup.

In midfield, Herdman has called up a number of players with senior international experience. Ivar Jenner is among those selected, following consistent performances for Dewa United.

Jenner will be joined in the midfield department by Egy Maulana Vikri, Joey Pelupessy, Jordi Amat, Calvin Verdonk, Rayhan Hannan and Thom Haye.

Meanwhile, Herdman has named four players for the forward line: Mitchell Baker, Ole Romeny, Ragnar Oratmangoen and Luke Vickery.

Vickery is one of the most notable inclusions on the list. The Macarthur FC striker is in line to make his official senior debut for Indonesia, after previously receiving a call up for the 2026 AFF Cup.

On that previous occasion, Vickery was unable to join the squad as his club refused to release him. He has now once again been included in Herdman's plans for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup.

This tournament represents a critical milestone for Indonesia National Team, as Herdman continues to build the long term foundations of his squad. Group A will also present tight regional competitive tests against Malaysia, Singapore and Bangladesh.

Idzes' absence is one of the main challenges that must be addressed right from the start of preparations. The Sassuolo defender has long been a core anchor in the backline, as well as the on-pitch leader of the Garuda squad.

Herdman will take this 23 player squad to compete at the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup. Alongside established experienced names, this tournament also presents an opportunity for Luke Vickery to begin a new chapter with the Indonesia National Team.
