European Tour 2027: Singapore Open and Hong Kong Open Return to the Official Calendar

The 2027 global golf calendar is beginning to take on a new form. A strategic collaboration between the European Tour and Asian Tour is bringing two historic tournaments, the Singapore Open and Hong Kong Open, back into the European Tour schedule.

This initiative forms part of the strategic alliance between the PGA Tour, European Tour and Asian Tour announced last July, which will remain active through 2029.

This partnership is designed to unlock greater commercial opportunities and competitive access, while establishing a clear progression pathway for Asian Tour registered golfers to compete on European circuits.

The impact is already visible in the 2027 calendar. First staged in 1961, the Singapore Open will return to the European Tour after a 14 year absence.

The Singapore Open is scheduled for April at Sentosa Golf Club. Its reinstatement marks one of the most significant changes to the upcoming European Tour season, while also strengthening formal ties between European golf and the Asian region.

Singapore is not the only returning Asian stop: the Hong Kong Open will also rejoin the European Tour after eight years away, with the tournament scheduled for October.

These two Asian events arrive alongside the comeback of the Portugal Open. Portugal's national golf tournament will return in May after seven years off the official calendar, and will be included as part of the European Swing series.

Additional calendar adjustments have been driven by the 2027 Ryder Cup, which will be hosted in Ireland 17-19 September, requiring rescheduling for multiple European Tour events.

Three major tournaments are affected by these schedule changes: the Irish Open, French Open, and BMW PGA Championship. The Irish Open will be moved to July, while the French Open and the Wentworth-hosted BMW PGA Championship will be held in the weeks immediately before and after the Ryder Cup respectively.

These scheduling shifts underline the central position of the Ryder Cup within the European golf calendar. Multiple tournaments have been relocated to accommodate this biennial showdown between Team Europe and Team USA.

In total, the 2027 global golf calendar will feature 42 tournaments across 24 countries. The competitive footprint continues to expand, with the Europe-Asia partnership forming a core pillar of the tour's strategic agenda.

For Asian Tour members, this collaboration opens new pathways to European competition. Access to European Tour events provides Asian golfers with significantly greater opportunity to compete at international level and build elite level competitive experience.

For the European Tour meanwhile, the return of the Singapore and Hong Kong tournaments consolidates the tour's established presence across Asia.
