Aldila Sutjiadi Shifts Focus to the 2026 Asian Games Following the Singapore WTA 500 Tournament.

Aldila Sutjiadi's competition schedule is not yet concluded. After first competing at the WTA 500 Singapore, the Indonesian tennis player will shift her focus towards the 2026 Asian Games, with the target of maintaining her performance in the mixed doubles category alongside Christopher Rungkat.

Aldila is currently based in Jakarta for training, before departing for Singapore on the morning of Saturday, 19 September. This WTA 500 tournament will be her final competitive fixture prior to travelling for the Japan-hosted Asian Games.

"I am already in Jakarta, and training in preparation for the WTA event in Singapore. I will depart this coming Saturday morning, and will compete first in Singapore before the Asian Games," Aldila told Antara via instant messaging.

In Singapore, Aldila will once again partner with Erin Routliffe. The Sutjiadi/Routliffe pairing enters the tournament on the back of a 2026 US Open quarter-final run, where they were eventually eliminated by home pair Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery.

Once the Singapore tournament concludes, Aldila will adjust the direction of her preparations. The Asian Games will become her next priority, with mixed doubles as the only event she will enter.

"I will only compete in mixed doubles with Christo at the Asian Games, because Priska will not be participating in this edition," Aldila explained.

Aldila's preparations cover not only physical conditioning and on-court technique, but also rebuilding competitive chemistry with Christo - a partner who shares an extensive history alongside her at multi-sport competitions.

Aldila and Christo are not a new pairing on the Asian Games stage. The duo previously stood on the top podium after winning gold at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games.

Their joint success continued at the SEA Games. Sutjiadi/Rungkat claimed gold at the 2019 Philippines SEA Games, 2021 Vietnam SEA Games, and 2023 Cambodia SEA Games. At the 2025 Thailand SEA Games, the pair still managed to secure a bronze medal.

Notably, Christo now also serves as Aldila's personal coach, adding an additional unique dynamic to their Asian Games preparations.

Before considering targets in Japan, Aldila must first complete her commitments in Singapore. The WTA 500 event provides an opportunity to sharpen her game and maintain competitive match rhythm ahead of entering the continental multi-sport competition.

After that, full focus will shift to the mixed doubles campaign. Their long shared partnership is a major asset, however both will still need to prepare to face the top ranked pairs from across Asia.

With a 2018 Asian Games gold medal and three SEA Games gold titles under their belt, Aldila and Christo hold proven experience performing at multi-sport tournaments. Now, the pair have the opportunity to bring this accumulated experience onto the 2026 Asian Games stage.
