Ahead of the Persija vs Persib match at GBK, Umuh has requested Bobotoh supporters to give their support while remaining in Bandung for this fixture.

Persib Bandung has urged its fanbase, the Bobotoh, to refrain from travelling directly to Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium in Jakarta when Maung Bandung faces Persija on the second matchweek of the 2026/27 Super League, Saturday 12 September. This appeal forms part of efforts to keep this classic derby safe amid the long-running rivalry between the two clubs.

Persib Bandung manager Umuh Muchtar confirmed that the agreement to not bring any Persib supporters to Jakarta must be honoured collectively. For the club, safety and public order take absolute priority over match results.

“I am making this clear: we have committed that not one single person may attend this match, no exceptions. We are prioritising safety first and foremost, and at the end of the day Persib will come out on top,” Umuh stated during an official announcement in Bandung.

Umuh asked the Bobotoh to understand this decision and continue showing support from their home city. He stressed that loyalty to Persib does not need to be proven by attending the stadium for this away fixture against Persija.

As an alternative, supporters may attend official public viewing gatherings (known locally as nobar) held across Bandung and surrounding regions. This arrangement is designed to let fans still experience the match atmosphere while upholding security agreements.

“We will celebrate together at these viewings, share meals, and with full backing from city and provincial police authorities this will be an incredible event,” Umuh added.

These public viewings also allow Persib to keep the Bobotoh's supportive energy channelled towards the team. Solidarity built across locations in Bandung is expected to unite supporters without introducing additional security risks around GBK Stadium.

Separately, Persib captain Marc Klok also spoke on appropriate supporter conduct for the fixture. While the Persib-Persija rivalry always carries high tension, Klok noted that enthusiasm must always be paired with respectful behaviour and sportsmanship.

“I only wish safety for every supporter attending, that everyone on both sides of this rivalry acts with good conduct. There is nothing wrong with being excited for this match,” he commented.

Klok acknowledged the irreplaceable role the Bobotoh hold for the squad. Even so, he repeated that support does not require travelling to Jakarta, and that the fans' spirit sent from Bandung will still act as critical extra motivation for the players.

“We need the Bobotoh behind us, cheering us on. That energy they give us is everything. This Saturday we are playing for pride, and we will carry all of them with us onto the pitch,” Klok said.

The Persija vs Persib fixture is one of the most anticipated matches of the 2026/27 Super League second matchweek. Persija enters the tie following an opening 1-0 win against Borneo FC, while Persib began their season with a 3-1 victory over PSM Makassar.

This match at GBK also presents Persib the chance to extend their strong start to the new campaign.
