Nicolo Bulega has finally secured his ticket to the MotoGP stage. The Italian rider will join the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team starting the 2027 season, making his premier class debut with the Tavullia-based squad.

Bulega's move marks a brand new chapter in his career. Currently competing in WorldSBK, the 26-year-old racer will depart the production motorcycle racing championship to pursue his long-held MotoGP dream.

"Moving up to MotoGP is a dream come true, especially that I will be making my debut with Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. I chose this team because I have always been connected to them. I was part of the VR46 Academy when I was young, so I know everyone here very well," Bulega stated on the official MotoGP website.

Bulega's ties with VR46 go back a long way. He was a member of the VR46 Riders Academy during his junior years, which makes this move to Valentino Rossi's MotoGP team carry very personal meaning for him.

Bulega acknowledged that his path to MotoGP was not a straight line. After initially chasing a spot in the premier class, he opted to build his career through the WorldSBK route, where he went on to achieve major success.

"On top of that, everyone here is extremely professional. When I first started racing, I dreamed of reaching MotoGP. Then for many reasons, my career took a different path. I moved to WorldSBK, where I focused on building a successful career there," he explained.

Bulega began his WorldSSP campaign in 2022 with Ducati. It only took him one full season to claim the WorldSSP championship title in 2023.

That title earned him promotion to WorldSBK for 2024, where he immediately proved he could compete at the top level. In his debut WorldSBK season, Bulega finished as the championship runner-up.

Bulega's form has gone from strength to strength in the 2026 WorldSBK season. He currently leads the standings in dominant fashion, having notched 26 wins out of the 27 rounds completed so far.

Now, a fresh challenge awaits him. MotoGP will be an entirely new stage for Bulega. He will need to adapt to prototype motorcycle characteristics, competition against the world's top riders, and the extreme demands of premier class racing.

Bulega will not be the only new face at Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. The squad's 2027 MotoGP line-up is now complete, after the team previously signed Spanish rider Fermin Aldeguer.

Bulega and Aldeguer will form VR46's full rider line-up for the 2027 season. While the two racers come from different career backgrounds, both will be part of the project built by MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi.

For Bulega, this opportunity is the fulfilment of a childhood dream. After proving himself and building his reputation in WorldSSP and WorldSBK, he will now get the chance to test himself at the absolute highest level of global motorcycle racing.
