Jakarta - On Saturday evening, 29 August 2026, the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) hosted more than just a football match. This stadium became the stage for Persija Jakarta to unveil the new identity they will carry into the 2026/2027 season.
A total of 29 players were presented during the Team & Jersey Launch event. Persija also launched three brand new kits in partnership with adidas. Following the ceremony, Persija faced Brisbane Roar in an international friendly match as part of their final preparations ahead of the 2026/2027 Super League.
Yet underneath the celebratory proceedings, tensions coloured the night. Supporters group The Jakmania staged a boycott by refusing to attend the event, as a form of protest over ticket pricing issues.

Even so, this situation did not break the focus of the Persija squad. They took to the pitch with full determination.
They won the match 4-0.
Jeremejeff Makes An Immediate Statement
All eyes were fixed on Alexander Jeremejeff. The Swedish striker had only just signed for Persija, but immediately made an impact on his debut appearance.
Before the match had even reached the one minute mark, Jeremejeff threatened the Brisbane goal after receiving a pass from Witan Sulaeman, unleashing a first time shot that flew just over the crossbar.
In the 14th minute, a far more definitive opportunity arrived. Persija were awarded a penalty, and Jeremejeff stepped up as the taker. His finish successfully put the Macan Kemayoran 1-0 ahead.
Brisbane Roar attempted to respond by building up their attacking play, but Persija held their lead going into the half time break. Rio Fahmi also went close with a volley that struck the crossbar.
The second half told a different story.
Kerim Memija doubled Persija's lead before Jeremejeff found the net once again, taking the scoreline to 3-0.
Scoring twice on his debut marked an extremely promising start for Jeremejeff. He arrived at the club with an established pedigree, having finished as the 2022 Allsvenskan top scorer with 22 goals for BK Häcken.
Brisbane Roar continued to push for a consolation goal. Their best chance fell to Hosine Bility who received a through ball from Sebit James Ngor, only to drag his shot wide of the Persija goal.
Persija rounded off the match with a fourth goal late on, after Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis lost control of the ball resulting in an own goal.
Full time: 4-0.
Positive Signs For Shin
Persija head coach Shin Tae-yong stated he was satisfied with his side's performance.
"Of course I am happy that we won this match. I also want to thank the players, they put in an excellent display today," Shin remarked after the final whistle.
This victory extended Persija's positive run of pre-season results. Prior to this match, the Macan Kemayoran defeated PSMS 4-1 and Arema FC 3-1 in the 2026 President's Cup, before picking up 2-1 wins over Police Tero and Chiangrai United during their training camp in Thailand.
That said, this 4-0 win over Brisbane Roar must be put into proper context.
Brisbane head coach Michael Valkanis acknowledged that Persija are at a far more advanced stage of their pre-season preparations. Persija are due to begin their competitive campaign much sooner, while Brisbane Roar still have approximately six weeks remaining before their own season kicks off.
For this reason, this result is an encouraging positive signal, not a final verdict.
Persija have now officially unveiled their full squad, launched their new kits, and seen their new striker get the perfect debut. Shin also confirmed that one additional foreign player will still be signed, meaning the final team roster is not yet fully complete.
Persija's first official competitive match of the 2026/2027 season will take place on 5 September, when they face Borneo FC.
This night at JIS did not prove that Persija are ready to win the title. But they did walk away with an almost perfect end to their pre-season: four goals scored, none conceded, and two goals from their new signing that showed exactly why the club brought him in.
Now there remains one simple, but far harder question to answer:
Can Persija replicate this level of performance when three points are on the line?
