Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) failed to add to their trophy haul after being beaten 0-1 by RC Lens in the 2026 French Super Cup, hosted at Stade Bollaert-Delelis, Lens. Florian Thauvin emerged as Lens' matchwinner, netting the only goal of the fixture in the first half.
This result also brings an end to PSG's dominance, having lifted the French Super Cup for four consecutive editions prior to this match.
Lens' victory becomes all the more remarkable given the side were reduced to 10 men from the 39th minute onwards. Even with a numerical advantage, PSG could not capitalise on the situation and failed to register a goal for the full 90 minutes.

Thauvin Proves The Difference
PSG took attacking initiative right from kick-off. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia looked to pierce Lens' backline early on, but his strike was parried away by goalkeeper Robin Risser.
Maghnes Akliouche then created an opening for himself, only to drag his shot wide of the target.
Lens gradually found gaps to launch counter attacks. Matthieu Udol first fired an effort wide, before Thauvin burst forward to reach the loose ball, slotting a calm finish past Matvey Safonov to hand Lens a 1-0 lead.
This advantage was soon followed by bad news for the hosts. Just seven minutes after Thauvin's goal, Kyllian Antonio was dismissed with a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Akliouche.
Now with the extra man, PSG ramped up their pressure. Desire Doue came inches away from an equaliser right before half time, but his strike from a tight angle rattled the goalpost.
PSG Fail To Capitalise On Numerical Advantage
Heading into the second half, Luis Enrique's side pushed forward aggressively in search of a leveller. The Parisians attempted to pin Lens deep inside their own half, probing the defence from all angles.
A major talking point arrived in the 77th minute. Fabian Ruiz struck a low effort past Risser, prompting PSG players to celebrate an equaliser. Following a full review of the build up however, Ruiz was ruled offside and the goal was overturned.
Ousmane Dembélé then carved out a close-range chance for PSG, only to blaze his shot over the crossbar.
Further drama unfolded late in the tie. In the 87th minute, both sides were levelled for numbers once again when Nuno Mendes was also shown a straight red card. The PSG defender caught Michal Skoras with an elbow, leaving the referee with no choice but to dismiss him.
PSG threw everything forward in stoppage time, but Lens' defensive unit held firm with disciplined organisation. The final whistle confirmed a historic 1-0 win for Lens.
Maiden Super Cup Trophy For Lens Gets Toppmoller Era Off To Flying Start
This victory sees RC Lens lift the French Super Cup for the very first time in the club's entire history.
More than just an additional trophy, this success breaks PSG's four year stranglehold over the annual competition.
For Lens, this title caps a fine run of form, coming off the back of their Coupe de France triumph last season.
PSG meanwhile are left to digest missing out on what would have been their fifth consecutive French Super Cup crown.
