There was a quiet surprise unfolding as Persib Bandung finalised preparations for their fixture against FC Seoul. Former Maung Bandung midfielder Oh In-kyun arrived at the team's hotel in South Korea to greet his former colleagues, catching up after many years apart.
The visit took place hours before Persib's opening AFC Champions League 2 match against FC Seoul at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, scheduled for Wednesday 17:00 WIB.
For In-kyun, this reunion allowed him to reconnect with players and backroom staff who had been part of his professional spell in Bandung.

Indonesia and Australia are battling for the direct qualification ticket to the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup.
"I am praying Persib comes away with the win," stated In-kyun, who represented the Indonesian club in 2018, in remarks published on Persib's official website Wednesday.
In-kyun only spent one single season with Persib. That 2018 campaign remains memorable for the South Korean though, as he formed part of Mario Gomez's side that mounted a serious title challenge in Indonesia's Liga 1.
Across that season he made 27 appearances, registering three goals and two assists, with Persib ultimately finishing the campaign in 4th position.
Eight years later the context could not be more different. This time In-kyun is not part of the travelling squad, he is simply a former player in his home country as Persib arrive for this major continental fixture.
He was met by familiar faces still with the club. Dedi Kusnandar and Beckham Putra Nugraha welcomed their former teammate, with relaxed conversations bringing back shared memories from their days wearing Persib's blue kit.
"It has been far too long. I left Indonesia just before the Covid outbreak in 2020 and retired not long after. I am so glad to get to see Dedi, Beckham and everyone else again," the 41-year-old former player added.
This meeting was not only about nostalgia however. In-kyun's visit carried practical value for Persib, given his intimate knowledge of South Korean domestic football.
He broke down FC Seoul's playing characteristics for the visiting side, warning Persib to pay special attention to Seoul's wide players and front line.
"They have a left back with very dangerous crossing delivery. Both wide operators are high quality, they work the half spaces extremely well, and they also have a powerful, tall striker who is their top goalscorer," he detailed.
These warnings carry particular weight with Persib travelling to FC Seoul's home ground. Alongside individual player quality, In-kyun highlighted Seoul's ability to exploit gaps between midfield and defensive lines as a key threat to monitor.
FC Seoul enter the fixture in excellent domestic form. They currently sit top of their national league table, holding a commanding 15 point lead over the team in second place.
For Persib, this match in Seoul represents a huge early test, as well as an opportunity to begin their AFC Champions League 2 campaign on a positive note.
