Persib Bandung began their 2026/2027 BRI Super League campaign with a positive result. Playing at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) Stadium, Bandung on Sunday evening, the Maung Bandung squad successfully defeated PSM Makassar with a final score of 3-1.

This victory felt even more special as Persib found themselves trailing right from the early stages of the match. PSM managed to score an opening goal just six minutes after kickoff.

Kodai Tanaka was the player who put the visiting side ahead. Exploiting gaps in Persib's back line, Tanaka found space and broke through the home defence to put PSM 1-0 up.

Falling behind early spurred Persib to immediately raise their attacking intensity. Just three minutes later, Uilliam Barros had a golden opportunity with a headed attempt.

However this effort did not find the net, as PSM goalkeeper Hilmansyah successfully denied the attempt.

Persib continued to apply pressure throughout the first half. In the 25th minute, Mariano Peralta attempted to turn the tide with an individual solo run.

Peralta successfully created a shooting opportunity, but his finish was once again saved by Hilmansyah. Persib maintained full control of the match flow, however PSM's compact defensive organisation meant multiple chances failed to produce a goal.

When the referee blew the half-time whistle, PSM's 1-0 lead remained intact.

Persib Stage Second Half Comeback

As the second half got underway, Persib came out with even greater aggression. The sustained pressure built right from the restart paid off just two minutes after play resumed.

Patricio Matricardi equalised for the home side in the 47th minute. This goal originated from a corner kick delivered by Thom Haye.

Matricardi won the aerial duel inside the box, directing his header past the PSM goal line. Hilmansyah was unable to react to the ball, bringing the scoreline to 1-1.

Persib immediately capitalised on this shift in momentum. Only three minutes after drawing level, the home side completed the turnaround to take the lead.

Balsa Sekulic was the creator of Persib's second goal. He drove forward on a penetrating run before firing a shot from outside the penalty box which Hilmansyah could not stop.

Persib now held a 2-1 advantage.

PSM did not sit back passively. The Makassar-based side attempted to raise their own intensity and push for an equalising goal.

However Persib's defensive line remained focused and disciplined. Every attacking attempt from PSM was successfully neutralised as the match reached the 70 minute mark.

Uilliam Barros Seals Persib Victory
Persib added a third goal in the 82nd minute, extending their lead to 3-1.

Uilliam Barros got his name on the scoresheet after exploiting open space that opened up in PSM's defensive line.

The Persib forward struck with a shot from outside the penalty area. Once again Hilmansyah was unable to stop the effort, putting Persib firmly in control of the remainder of the match.

PSM continued to push for a response in the remaining game time. However no further goals were scored before the referee blew the final full-time whistle.

Persib Bandung closed out their opening 2026/2027 BRI Super League fixture with a 3-1 victory over PSM Makassar.

This result also provides an important foundation for Persib as they prepare for upcoming matches in the new season.
