Marc Klok Targets Persib Victory Over PSM in the 2026/27 Super League Opening Match

Bandung - Marc Klok is targeting victory as Persib Bandung begins their 2026/27 Super League campaign by hosting PSM Makassar at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) Stadium, Sunday (6/9/2026) at 19.00 WIB.

The Persib midfielder stated that winning the opening match is critical to build the squad's confidence for the new season. For this reason, Klok wants Maung Bandung to start the competition immediately with a positive result.

"We want to kick off with a good start for ourselves as a team, for morale, for confidence," Klok said, as quoted from Persib's official website on Sunday.

Klok Wants Persib To Open The Season With Three Points

Klok noted that opening matches always carry a different atmosphere. After completing the pre-season period, the fixture against PSM becomes Persib's momentum to return to competitive football.

According to him, excitement is also palpable across Bandung, as the Bobotoh supporters have been waiting for Maung Bandung's return to official competition.

"The first game of every season is always special at kick-off, so many people are excited to welcome the league back. That feeling is here in Bandung too, everyone here has been waiting to watch football and finally we return tomorrow," he stated.

Playing in front of the Bobotoh gives Persib its own unique advantage. Klok also emphasized that his squad will not waste this support, and are determined to secure all three points.

Igor Tolic Confirms Persib Are Ready

Klok's ambition is aligned with the readiness update delivered by Persib head coach Igor Tolic. After completing the full pre-season preparation schedule and Asian competition fixtures, Persib have now shifted their full focus to the Super League opening match.

"At last we will soon get underway, which is a very good thing. We have prepared properly for this match against Makassar," Tolic stated during the pre-match press conference, Saturday (5/9).

Tolic confirmed his squad has prepared thoroughly to face PSM. However, he warned Persib must not underestimate their opponents despite playing at home.

Tolic Remains Cautious Of PSM's Playing Style

Tolic assessed that PSM has a clear playing identity alongside a number of quality players. The arrival of several new players and a new head coach will also see Juku Eja adopt a different approach this season.

"I think they have a clear style of play. They have good new signings and a good new coach. They have a strong goalkeeper, solid defensive line, and there are also new players in their forward line," he said.

According to Tolic, PSM's new coach has brought fresh energy and new approaches to the team. For this reason, Persib must maintain full concentration throughout the entire match, and must not give the visiting side space to develop their game.

"Their coach is a figure that has brought new energy and new ideas," he added.

Both Persib And PSM Are In Squad Building Phase

Tolic observed that Persib and PSM are in relatively similar positions ahead of the new season. Both teams are still refining their best lineups after carrying out a number of squad changes.

"They are still building their team, just like we are. Makassar has a target to perform better than last year. But we also have our own objectives, and we know exactly what we need to do," he stated firmly.
