PP PBSI has officially announced 20 Indonesian badminton athletes that will compete at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, Japan. The squad is split evenly, consisting of 10 male players and 10 female players.
These 20 names were finalised after PBSI conducted a full comprehensive evaluation covering player performance, physical condition, technical ability, and overall team operational requirements.
Indonesia's first priority will be the men's team and women's team events, which will be held before all individual competition matches.

"These athletes will represent Indonesia for the men's team and women's team categories," stated Eng Hian, Head of Development and Achievement Division PP PBSI, in an official statement released in Jakarta.
For the men's sector, PBSI has selected Jonatan Christie, Alwi Farhan, Moh Zaki Ubaidillah, Muhamad Yusuf, Fajar Alfian, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Leo Rolly Carnando, Daniel Marthin, Nikolaus Joaquin, and Amri Syahnawi.
Meanwhile the women's squad consists of Putri Kusuma Wardani, Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan, Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi, Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari, Rachel Allessya Rose, Febi Setianingrum, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma, Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, and Nita Violina Marwah.
Selection Based On Team Requirements
PBSI compiled the final squad by considering the specific needs for each competition category as well as the overall interests of the national team.
Eng Hian confirmed the selection process was completed after thorough full evaluation that covered each player's track record, physical condition, technical capabilities, and the team's strategic requirements.
"From this assessment, we determined the squad composition that best aligns with Indonesia's targets and needs for this Asian Games," said Eng Hian.
As a consequence, not all 20 listed athletes will compete in individual events. A number of players have been specifically prepared exclusively for the team events which are set as the contingent's initial priority.
For the men's singles individual event, Indonesia will field Jonatan Christie and Alwi Farhan. Meanwhile Moh Zaki Ubaidillah and Muhamad Yusuf are included in the squad solely to support the men's team event.
This same selection structure is applied for the women's singles sector. Putri Kusuma Wardani and Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan will compete in the individual category, while Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi and Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari are assigned only for the women's team squad.
Doubles Lineup As The Contingent's Core Strength
For the men's doubles individual event, Indonesia will rely on the pairs Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin.
Both pairs will be key contenders in the individual competition stage once the team events conclude. Their competitive experience and on-court synergy are Indonesia's primary assets to pursue medal opportunities in this category.
The women's doubles individual event will also feature two national pairs: Rachel Allessya Rose / Febi Setianingrum and Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, who will represent Indonesia in this category.
Meanwhile for the mixed doubles event, Indonesia will field the combinations Amri Syahnawi / Nita Violina Marwah and Nikolaus Joaquin / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.
Team Events As First Priority
The badminton competition for the 2026 Asian Games is scheduled to be held at Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium. Team events will take place 20-24 September, before individual competitions run from 25-29 September.
The team events mark the first opportunity to secure medals, while also serving as a test for the full depth of the national squad before players compete in their respective individual categories.
"That is why our main focus will be on the team events first. We want every single player to perform at maximum potential and deliver their very best contribution for both the men's and women's national teams," stated Eng Hian.
Once the team events conclude, PBSI will shift full focus to the individual competition categories. Every competition sector will be optimised to open additional medal opportunities for the Indonesian contingent.
